Why Faith Alone Is Not Enough to Keep You Well

Image
didn’t even realize it until my loved ones started commenting! I share all of this to say that taking care of our health is not just our  “I cancel that in Jesus’ name!” “I shall not die, but live to declare the works of the Lord!” And my personal favorite, “That’s not my portion!” All very typical responses from Christians when warned that the lifestyle that they are living may not be conducive to their health or well-being — well, from us African Christians anyway. Now before I get anybody’s back up, I do not say all of this to make fun of anyone’s beliefs or culture. I myself am not only of Nigerian descent, but have been saved since I was 11 years old. That means that I am just as likely to exclaim “Tufiakwa!” at a perceived curse. It also means that I believe in a God who wants nothing more than to see us prosper and be in good health and who has healed us “by His stripes.” I know what the Bible says, and it’s pretty clear that God doesn’t want us ...

You Can't Separate Entertainment From Illegal Money, Most Of The Highest Money Entertainers Make Is From People With Illegal Money- Rapper N6 Says

Image
Rapper N6 was on the panel of a recent episode of Linda Ikeji TV's Hot Topics with Latasha where they debated on singer, Falz's comment about entertainers who glorify people with illegal money in their songs. While stating his stand on the topic, N6 noted that entertainers cannot be seperated from illegal money and that most of the highest money that they've made come from people that have made money from illegal means. According to the rapper, as much as late Libyan leader, Ghadaffi was dubbed a dictator, when Beyonce was invited to sing at one of his functions and paid $1m, she did not turn it down. N6 says it is the job of the EFCC and government to go point out fraudsters and not musicians.  "Falz is right. What he said is right and it makes a lot of sense. For me, you cannot remove entertainment from illegal money. Half the time we get paid those really exorbitant money, half the time we call that price and we don't get that argument of how to get i...

Lady narrates how robbers stole her ATM and cleaned out her account

Image
A primary school teacher identified as Evi Iwaha pictured above, has narrated how some robbers attacked her, took her ATM card and cleared her account in the early hours of Saturday January 30th. She narrated her story to  The Nation . "It happened a few minutes to 6.00am; I’d boarded a bus supposedly to Oshodi from Obanikoro. No sooner had the bus moved than they sprang into action. The first thing they did was grab my phone; ‘What do you do? Where are you coming from?’one of them asked. I was hopeful that they’d take pity on me, having told them I was just a primary school teacher. Why bother to ask if it meant nothing to them? After rummaging through my wallet, they found two ATM cards and some cash. The question that followed hit me with a bang. ‘What’s your pin number?’ Instinctively, I hesitated for a while, but a resounding slap on my face soon got me spilling it out. These guys were actually going to do the unimaginable. They were going to clear my account. To think that I ...

British scientists granted permission to genetically modify human embyros

Image
British scientists have been granted permission to genetically modify human embryos by the fertility regulator.  The Francis Crick Institute could begin thecontroversial experiments as early as March after the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority(HFEA) gave the green light this morning. The scientists want to deactivate genes in leftover embryos from IVF clinics to see if it hinders development. It will only be the second time in the world that such a procedure has been undertaken and the first time it has been directly approved by a regulator. A Chinese team carried out similar experiments last year to widespread outcry. Currently around 50 per cent of fertilised eggs do not develop properly and experts believe that faulty genetic code could be responsible. If scientists knew which genes were crucial for healthy cell division, then they could screen out embryos where their DNA was not working properly, potentially preventing miscarriages and aiding fertility. The initial p...

Jenny McCarthy calls out Charlie Sheen for not telling her he had HIV when they worked together

Image
Since Charlie Sheen announced that he is HIV-positive on the 'Today' show, there has been split opinions with some praising him for being brave enough to speak openly about it, while others have lambasted him and Sheen's 'Two and a Half Men' co-star, Jenny McCarthy has a whole lot to say about the matter.  On her Sirius XM show 'Dirty very Funny,' she recalled her time on the show and wondered why Sheen didn't disclose his HIV status to his co-stars, particularly those he made out with.      "Before we do a job, we have to sign a piece of paper that says, 'Do you have cold sores?' " McCarthy said. " ... I'm like, 'Wait a second. If I have to be upfront about a herpe, how could you not be upfront about HIV?' I look back and I'm like, that would have been valuable information. I mean, look how many people have played his love interest on the show."      "I mean, not that you can, obviously, get it through ki...
